Lawrenceburg's Healing Field
American Legion Auxiliary Department of Kentucky
Lawrenceburg’s Healing Field was created by the American Legion Auxiliary as a tribute to fallen
Warriors; it is the nation's only permanent Healing Field. The Healing Field is located on American Legion
Post 34 land at the Lawrenceburg Fairgrounds; it is a living tribute to Kentucky's servicemen and women
who have fallen in the war on terrorism.
The Healing Field was dedicated on November 4, 2007, this first-ever field will fly as a patriotic tribute to
the strength and unity of all Americans and as a healing memorial to families of these fallen heroes.
Developed and funded by the American Legion Auxiliary Department of Kentucky, this memorial was
presented as a gift to all.
The current field contains 118 flag poles, flags and marble markers. Each flag represents a Kentucky
soldier who has given his or her life to protect us. The display is free and open year-round to all who wish
to participate and honor our fallen brothers and sisters.
My husband was an American Legion member when we got married. Two years later I was asked to join
the American Legion Auxiliary of which I am a charter member.
