I took the bait and went to Germany for my first assignment. Little did I
know the world held many forms of trepidation.

I would soon experience the real world. The experiences would make their
mark and remain forever locked in my head.

I choose to tread lightly when speaking of my specific military assignments.
They were so long ago and so far from reality. I believe in ghosts; I see them
all the time. Suffice it to say that I went where I was told and did what was
asked of me.

Often my soul was shaken and repeatedly fled. To this day I remain
persistently on the alert.
