             I am told they were called Telker Houses; owned by a certain Mr. Telker, the
             cotton planter-farmer-owner.  Because my parents picked cotton for him, we
             could live in one of his houses for cheap rent.  The structures were no more
             than tin-roofed shacks - but we were dry.  We lived in the last house on the

             street before the cotton fields.
