A very important question I would like to ask my grandchildren and great grandchildren is: What is the
most valuable asset you own? Some would say “my children” and that is incorrect because your children
are gifts to you for a limited time to love and properly care for. Some could then say, “my house” and that
is incorrect, because you can’t always control what will happen to your home; storms, floods, foreclosure
and such, and many more answers of material things that would be incorrect.
Your time is the only thing you truly own. Each second, minute and so on, and how we spend it, belongs
only to us. Some are blessed with better health, some make bad decisions, and some lose their life
through no fault of their own, but the time we have to spend on this earth regardless of our comfort or
discomfort belongs strictly to each of us. There is so much in our modern day that can waste precious
hours; computer games, Facebook, texting for hours, are only a few items that can be beneficial, if time is
spent wisely, or a great loss.
If I could leave one message for my generations that follow me, it would be:
“Consider the value of your time and spend it wisely. When each second leaves you, it is gone forever.”
