of the Communist Party of Vietnam
As a Vietnamese Revolutionary leader and Communist; Ho
Chi Minh pursued independence for his nation from
colonial influences. He was a leader against the
Japanese, French, and American occupying forces, as
well as against opposing groups of Vietnamese.
Ho and his Viet Minh forces were successful against the
French in the First Indochina War and in the Second
Indochina War against the United States in what was
commonly referred to as the Vietnam War.
He died in 1969, six years before the North declared
victory in the Vietnam War and completed the
reunification of the country under Communist rule.
