PERSPECTIVES
1964
A sixteen-year-old sits in front of his parent’s black
and white television watching the action in Vietnam.
He is too young to fully comprehend what is happening.
His youthful mind tells him “this isn’t good.” He
begins to question what he is watching.
Where is this place, they call Vietnam? Why are we
there? He thinks to himself: “In a few short years I
could be drafted; what will I do?”
An NBC News anchorman breaks
the young man’s concentration:
“A presidential commission has
concluded that Lee Harvey
Oswald acted alone in the
assassination of President
Kennedy.”
