I stayed at Fort Knox my entire time in the army. My
highest rank was Private First Class. I was told I was
in a “Hold Over” status. Fort Knox was as good as any
of them, it was okay. It was close to home and I don’t
               remember anything bad about it.

I had a very nice and friendly boss; he would give me
passes so I could go home to visit my family. He and

his wife would invite me out to their house to just
               visit.

I don’t feel like I did much while I was in the army.
               I was just a Vietnam-Era soldier. I was just a clerk,
while my brother was in Vietnam serving as a door
               gunner.

I want to honor my brother who served in Vietnam at
about the same time I was serving at Fort Knox,
Kentucky. He was a helicopter door gunner and he got
killed, he didn't make it back. While he was overseas,
we’d wait for him to come home. You know, anticipate
               his return.

Be sure to honor your veterans, from that era,
               especially.
