Nearly everyone knows of the work The Red Cross performs here at home.

Their work with the military is often unknown except by the soldiers and their families.

               Red Cross:

“The American Red Cross’ unwavering commitment to members of the U.S. military, its Veterans and
their families continues to grow and develop more than a century after Clara Barton first recruited nurses
to support the U.S. Army. Today the Red Cross is meeting the needs of the changing military and
expanding services to Veterans. Red Cross support of military members and their families enhances
morale and contributes to increased operational capability in several ways.

Red Cross workers use advanced communications technologies to link service members with their
families. Our Emergency Communications Center quickly and efficiently obtains the required information
and sends emergency communication messages to service members of every branch of service wherever
in the world they happen to be.

Through partnerships with the Departments of Defense and Veterans’ Affairs, the Red Cross provides
transition and reintegration support to wounded warriors, Veterans, and their families.

The Red Cross relies on the volunteer spirit and financial generosity of the American people to support
America’s military families. Today, as always, the men and women of the American Red Cross continue
to show our appreciation for the dedicated service and patriotic sacrifices of America’s military men and
women and their families by being there to support them wherever they are and whenever they need us.”
