I had the pleasure of serving in such exotic and not so exotic places as:
Fort Lewis, WA
Yakima Training Center, WA
Fort Ord, CA
Fort Hood, TX
Fort Carson, CO
Fort Benjamin Harrison, IN
Fort Richardson, AK
Fort Wainwright, AK
Fort Rucker, AL
Fort Belvoir, VA
Fort A.P. Hill, VA
Fort Lee, VA
Fort Myer, VA
Fort McNair, VA
Fort Irwin, CA – National Combat Training Center
Wright Patterson AFB, OH
The Pentagon, VA.
The Pentagon was/is often referred to as Any place on earth the
government wished to send me, including on and off the record
assignments.
Example: Fort Indiantown Gap, PA: Assisting with the processing of
Southeast Asian refugees. In 1975, The Gap served as a refugee camp
for Southeast Asian refugees. For eight months, more than 32,000
Vietnamese and Cambodian refugees were “resettled” and processed
through that installation.
And, so many places in a Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY) status that
even our government cannot provide time and place. Perhaps because
everything was “paper” records back then, making it all but impossible to
record all movements?
