Two little tidbits - Queen Noor of Jordan was born Elizabeth Najeeb Halaby

and is the widow of King Hussein. She renounced her American citizenship
in favor of Jordanian citizenship at the time of her marriage.

During the Vietnam war, the Thai government allowed the United States Air
Force to use its air space and naval bases. At the height of the war, almost
50,000 American military personnel were stationed in Thailand.

Today, Bangkok, Thailand is one of the world's top tourist destinations.

Because Thailand is separated from Vietnam by Laos and Cambodia, there is

a dispute as to whether being stationed (especially on TDY status) in
Thailand was considered a war zone and whether “cross-overs” into Vietnam
entitled a soldier to combat pay and all the other benefits of serving in a

combat zone. I choose to let the politicians define this matter as they defined
the entire war policy in Vietnam.
