I was a skinny little kid. I ate breakfast, lunch,
dinner, a morning snack, and an evening snack. They
were trying to fatten me up enough to keep me.
After basic training, I was transferred to Fort Ord,
California. I was close to home and the weather was
nice. No more Washington rain. I had enlisted for an
extra year during basic training so I could choose what
job I wanted to do in the army. I selected 76Y, Supply
Clerk. I was on my way to Europe, not Vietnam.
