Page 173 - Stand Down Vietnam
P. 173
My message for my family is simple: Work hard to
create pathways for an opportunity. We all have goals
in life, we all have desires; things we'd like to
accomplish, the difference is whether we have utilized
the opportunities provided.
My final words are to all who are currently serving:
You don't understand.
Just like Vietnam, we didn’t understand. Whether you
serve in combat, or combat service support, whatever
your MOS, wherever you are serving, you don't
understand.
I encourage you to keep a journal of your everyday
experiences. Keep track of the names of the people you
serve with, where they live, phone numbers, and
addresses.
If you have service-related disabilities; you will need
to document your military service. A journal will help
prove where you were when you were, and why you were.
The burden is on you.
