                              - Numerous humanitarian missions where I witnessed or was exposed to the slaughter
                                 of women and children.

                              - The January 1982, Air Florida crash in Washington, D.C.

                              - The suicide of my next-door neighbor in military housing at Fort Lewis, WA. A bullet
lodged inches from my daughter’s head

                              - Officer onboard a helicopter crash while on a training mission in Germany

                              - Standing guard and providing crowd control during the recovery of an American
military airplane that crashed off the coast of France. The airplane was loaded with
two nuclear bombs. My EOD “training” finally paid off – I performed guard duty

                              - Having a Top-Secret-Crypto security clearance and being a member of… can’t tell
                                 you; sorry

                              - Serving as a member of the Family Assistance Teams that notify and help the
                                 families of fallen soldiers

                              - Serving on the military jury of a young soldier convicted of stealing five dollars to buy
baby formula for his nine-month-old baby. The Army had not paid him in three
months. His First Sergeant and Company Commander had failed to help the soldier.
He became desperate. He was guilty.

He paid the price. But who was really the responsible party?

                              - More “off-the-record” assignments could and did fill several notebooks.
