Thomas Woodrow Wilson
28 President of the United States
th
1913 - 1921
18 January 1919, Versailles, France: President Wilson
attends the Paris Peace Conference to present his
“Fourteen Points”. His intent: New world order
following World War One.
“…, the promise of “self-determination” for those
oppressed minorities, and a world organization that
would provide a system of collective security for all
nations.”
Ho Chi Minh, a young Vietnamese student, was living in
Paris at the time of the Peace Conference. He sent an
appeal to the American delegation asking America for
help in forming a self-governing Vietnam, free from
French rule. Ho’s request was in line with Wilson’s
Fourteen Points policy.
Wilson ignored Ho’s appeal.
