I went to school in Benham and graduated in 1955.
I met a young lady named Doris Jean Johnson. My great,
great grandmother helped us out a little bit. She made
me take two dollars a week to take Jean to the movies.
I went to two years of college at Eastern State
Teacher’s College; now Eastern Kentucky University. I
worked at General Motors in Michigan and Ford Motor
Company in Louisville. I worked at the plant that made
the Edsel. After a short seven months or so, the Edsel
didn’t sell, so I got laid off.
1957 Edsel Corsair
A year after being married, I went to Owensboro,
Kentucky, to join the Marine Corps. I went to
Louisville and got sworn in as a Marine.
