I was assigned to an Artillery outfit. They were called
an Aviation outfit. I stayed there for a year and a
half. They had a quota for the air wing. The HHC
SSGTMG made an announcement in formation that the air
wing was doing some promotions. In the chow line, I
decided I wanted to do that. So, I volunteered to get
a quota and I got it. I was sent to Marine Corps Air
Station, New River, North Carolina. I was assigned to
a helicopter outfit.

the outfit, I was told they had five units and four
